CASology

CASology's cue card this week is WOOD.  So many different ways to interpret this....but I went with the camping theme, just so I could use the adorable Lawn Fawn Set Happy Trails.  That camper is so cute, and we just bought a camper ourselves this year, so I had to buy this set!  My kids even needed the cute Lego camper!  (Like they need any more Lego?!?)

I clear embossed the HA woodgrain BG stamp onto some SU Chocolate Chip paper. I then paper pieced the camper with some patterned papers from My Minds Eye 6x6 paper pad Happy Day.  I think it turned out pretty cute!!

Thanks for looking!!

Hero Arts Scramble

I was the hostess for the Hero Arts Scramble over on Flickr today.  What a great time we had.  I choose a theme of 'STARS' to go with the 4th of July Holiday that is quickly approaching.  The players had to create a card that somehow incorporated a star or stars. It could be a stamp, a die cut, a stencil, star washi tape, or just simple star embellishments.  They had 90 minutes to make their card, photograph it and post it to the flickr site.  I love these scrambles because it is so fun to know that you are creating with others from around the world at the same time!  Here are the sample cards I made for inspiration for the scramble.

On this first card I clear embossed the HA Starry Sky BG stamp and then watercolored distress inks over the top.  I used Seedless Preserves, Dusty Concord, Salty Ocean and Tumbled Glass inks.  The sentiment is from the HA set Shoot for the Moon.

The second card used a star stencil.  I think it was a Heidi Swapp stencil I got at Micheal's. I stamped the HA bicycle and then added the stars behind it, like they were coming off the bike.  I used Salty Ocean and Barn Door inks.  The sentiment is Hero Arts.

My last card used star embellishments.  I love these little wooden stars from Studio Calico.  To make the background, I used a technique I learned from Jennifer McGuire, offsetting the stamp when stamping the second time.  I used the HA Tiny Flags BG stamp in Soft Pool and Tide Pool ink.  The sentiment is from the HA clear set It's All Good.

If you have never played in a scramble before, you should give it a try!  They are always fun and the inspiration is great!  HA Flickr group holds them every couple of weeks, and there are prizes!!

Poppy Sketches

I am excited to play along with Poppy Sketches again this week.  The pop of pattern was polka dots, which I love!  I used the inlaid die cut technique with a new to me hello die from Lawn Fawn.  I think I will link this card to Darnell's NBUS challenge as well, since this was the first time I used that die.

Even though I was trying for a single layer easy to mail card, I couldn't resist adding the adorable little wood stars!

Fusion and Make it Monday

This is my first blog post for a challenge, and I am combining two (no really three)  challenges!  The Make it Monday challenge over at PTI was all about velum overlays, and the Fusion challenge teamed up with CAS(e) this Sketch.  So I can add my card to all three!

I use the PTI cover plate diagonal stripes with some gold paper to mimic the napkin ring in the photo inspiration.  The velum banner was stamped and embossed with a sentiment from Garden Grace, and the butterfly is from SU.  I was really happy with the way this turned out.  And I am excited to be posting to my very own blog!

Thanks for looking!

Welcome to My Blog

Well, I did it!  I finally decided to join the world of blogging.  I know, I know,  I am behind the times.  But better late than never, right?  So here I am.  I am planning on using this blog to post cards I make and hopefully play along in more challenges.  Thanks for tagging along on this journey!
