Our family just returned from a wonderful vacation in our nation's capital, Washington DC. Being from Washington State, we kept having to refer to the 'other' Washington!
There is so much to see and do in this wonderful city, and I'm sure we only scratched the surface, but it was fantastic. Here are a few pictures from our trip:
We were lucky enough to have a tour guide, my sister in law lives in Maryland, right outside of DC, so she was kind enough to show us around (And lend us some Metro Passes!)
Here are the kids with their Aunt Eileen in front of the Smithsonian Castle
We missed the majority of the cherry blossoms, but the tulips were beautiful all over town
It is hard to describe the emotions and feelings you get from standing in front of the War Memorials. Such a sacrifice these men and women gave for all of us to enjoy the lifestyle we have.
Natalie at the WWII memorial
The Washington Monument and reflecting pool as seen from the Lincoln Memorial
Jack in front of the Lincoln Memorial
Jack in the Museum of Natural History in the ocean exhibit.
Natalie and her cousin Marcela checking out the dinosaurs
The main reading room of the Library of Congress
My family at the Capital Building.
We saw many more things, but I don't want to bore you too much!! If you ever get the opportunity to visit DC, I highly recommend it. It will reinforce your pride in being an American, even with all the crazy politics!
Thanks for stopping in!
Laura

ReplyDeleteLaura, I hope you had a very happy birthday and a fun vacation in D.C.! We live about 2 hours from DC and love to go there with the kids for mini vacations. SO much to see, and so much of it is FREE! All of the museums are fabulous, and the war memorials are quite moving. Looks like you had nice weather...I hope you had a great time! I loved seeing all of your pictures...especially having been there, it is fun to see it all again! Did you get to the Air and Space Museum? (Our kids really enjoyed that one!) I was particularly impressed to see the lunchbox I used as a child displayed in the American History Museum! (Does that make me old??)
